Regular attendance plays an important role in student achievement and is an important life skill that will help students graduate from college and keep a job. When students do not attend school regularly, they miss out on fundamental reading and math skills and the chance to build a habit of good attendance. Absences can be minimized by scheduling medical, dental, and other appointments after school or when school is not in session. Vacations should be planned around holidays. Parents must make school attendance a priority.
Every minute counts! When students are late, they are missing instruction or instructional activities that could prevent them from learning. In addition, when a student arrives to class late, it can be distracting to the other students and the teacher. Therefore, students are expected to be on time every day. School begins at 8:00 AM; a warning bell will ring at 7:55 AM. Students who arrive after 8:00 AM are late. When transporting students to school, parents need to make every effort to leave early enough to account for morning traffic. Students who walk to school must leave the house in a timely manner to ensure they arrive at school on time. All late students must report to the office to obtain a pass.
